COMPUTATIONAL MODELS OF NARRATIVE AND INTERACTIVE STORYTELLING: Analysis and development of computational models/systems of narrative grounded on semiotics, linguistics and cognitive research aiming at enabling, in AI systems (embodied or not), the capability of interpreting, analyzing and generating stories at different levels of abstraction.
COMPUTATIONAL MODELS FOR METAPHOR AND ANALOGY PROCESSING, IDENTIFICATION AND GENERATION: Analysis and development of AI systems able to recognize (in texts) and automatically generate novel analogies and metaphors by using LLMs, symbolic AI and neuro-symbolic AI techniques.
SEMANTIC AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS Analysis and development of semantic systems for knowledge representation and automatic reasoning based on computational logic techniques and symbolic artificial intelligence, neuro-symbolic artificial intelligence, and neural models.
COGNITIVE ARCHITECTURES: Analysis and development of cognitive architectures (biologically or cognitively inspired) capable of enabling an artificial agent (including robots) to perform multiple intelligent tasks.
COMPUTATIONAL MODELS OF COGNITION Analysis and development of cognitively inspired models for specific tasks (e.g. inference, classification etc.) or multi-tasking.
PERSUASIVE TECHNOLOGIES Analysis and development of research activities on persuasive interfaces and technologies.
MIND-MACHINE EPISTEMOLOGY: Analysis and study of epistemological aspects concerning the explanatory role of artificial systems for the analysis of the mind-machine relationship.
LANGUAGE TECHNOLOGIES: Analysis and development of research activities on language technologies with applications in various fields, from the health sector to that of social robotics.
